Reagan and Australian premier declare friendship

President Reagan and Australian Prime Minister Robert Hawke said they had established a warm personal relationship that was fitting in light of the close ties between the two countries. Mr. Hawke, on his first visit to Washington as prime minister, told reporters there was no country the United States ''will be able to rely on more than Australia.''

Correction

An item in Monday's News Briefly column reported that the United States was not mentioned in a resolution at the Organization of African Unity summit meeting attacking South Africa's ''destabilization tactics'' in southern Africa. In fact, the OAU ended its meeting by condemning US policies in southern Africa.
