Afghan authorities released from jail a French doctor recently sentenced to eight years in prison on spying charges. Dr. Philippe Augoyard was turned over to the French Embassy in Kabul by Afghan authorities, a spokesman for the French External Relations Ministry said. Dr. Augoyard had been employed by the Paris-based Aide Medicale Internationale when he was captured by Afghan troops in January.
