US to air new proposals at Geneva arms parley

June 8, 1983

The Reagan administration will put forward fresh proposals at a new round of strategic arms reduction talks (START) resuming today (June 8). US officials were not sure the new proposals would be ready for the opening session, but said the proposals will be presented to the Soviet delegaton early in the fourth round in the 11-month-old talks.

A White House spokesman said President Reagan would announce decisions soon on a new US position that warheads, not missiles, be counted in proposed cuts in US and Soviet nuclear arsenals.
