They're banking on simplicity

With more than 300 commercial banks operating in California (21 new banks opened in the first quarter), names for newcomers are becoming increasingly difficult to concoct.

So an application filed last month for a national charter in Fallbrook, near San Diego, was accompanied by a simple name proposed by the 14 organizers: the Local Bank.
