When ivy meets wall

May 25, 1983

An ivy loves to grow. A wall's designed to hold. Two neighbors, with two strengths Seemingly opposed. Yet meeting at the garden's edge They give no indication Animosity's between. The truth be told, The wall enjoys a covering of green That lends a less imposing air To rules than naked stone; And ivy, for its wandering, Finds vertical delight in Reaching somewhat higher than It would have on its own.
