Political prisoners win amnesty in Zaire

Zaire's President, Marshal Mobutu Sese Seko, granted an amnesty to all political prisoners in Zaire. He also declared a general amnesty for all Zairian political refugees. Amnesty International has said more than 200 people were arrested in Zaire last year for allegedly opposing or criticizing the government.
