Minister says right wing interferes in French riots

May 13, 1983

After another round of violence across France, Prime Minister Pierre Mauroy condemned extreme right-wing militants for interfering in student riots. His message came after nine police and several bystanders were hurt in central Paris and clashes were reported between students and police in eight cities. Three big student demonstrations in Paris have led to violence over the past two weeks, and ministers have already accused right-wing organizations of taking advantage of the situation.
