A nun quit her Roman Catholic order rather than give up her job as director of the Michigan Department of Social Services. Sister Agnes Mary Mansour, who had been ordered by her archbishop to condemn state funding of Medicaid abortions or resign the post, said she wanted to honor her freedom of conscience.
