Whew, what a close call. That recently discovered comet Iras-Araki-Alcock missed the Earth by only 2.9 million miles. That may seem a comfortable margin to most of us earthlings, but it's almost cheek by jowl astronomically speaking. Near or far, a comet is always something to marvel at - a luminous reminder to the earthbound to keep looking up and outward.
