Israeli security forces placed a curfew on Gaza after a terrorist attack that killed an Israeli civilian, military officials said. Searches were being conducted for the attackers.

In other developments in Israel, a military court sentenced five Palestinian youths to 11 to 13 years in jail for stoning an Israeli woman to death in the West Bank in February. Israel also said it would establish nine new settlements near the occupied West Bank town of Hebron as part of its ambitious project to move 100,000 Jews to the disputed region by 1986.
