Stern magazine sues 'Hitler diaries' reporter

May 10, 1983

The West German magazine Stern filed a lawsuit for fraud against its reporter , Gerd Heidemann, who claimed to have discovered the Adolf Hitler diaries. Stern said a man Mr. Heidemann had named as source for the diaries probably didn't exist. The magazine's publisher added that the reporter appeared to have fallen into the hands of a swindler and might have enriched himself. Mr. Heidemann was not immediately contactable.
