US to upgrade air fleet in Far East with B-52G

The US is upgrading its entire strategic air fleet in the Far East with B-52G airplanes, military sources said. The new aircraft are capable of carrying nuclear-tip missiles as well as nuclear bombs and would enhance the US strategic posture in the Pacific without encountering the sort of hostile public opinion that had greeted plans to deploy ground-launched cruise missiles in Western Europe, they said.
