Double negative

April 15, 1983

The past is present in the future ocean of a raindrop entering a river. But at day's end I feel with the tension of a sea-tide that crashes and subsides because it is the captive canvas of a present day that is passing uncompleted. In a dark room, with dark thoughts, I hesitate, but remember, the double negative authorizes, but does not require, the positive light that leaps sometimes from the collision of two thunders.
