Helmet Schmidt endorses Federal Reserve chairman

Helmut Schmidt strongly endorsed Federal Reserve Board chief Paul Volcker, Monitor correspondent Ron Scherer reports. Speaking before the Harvard Business School Club of Greater New York, the former West German chancellor said Europeans admire Mr. Volcker's reliability. Mr. Volcker's term expires in August, and US and world financial markets are watching to see if he will be replaced by the Reagan administration.
