San Antonio voters reelected Mayor Henry Cisneros by a whopping 94 percent margin. Two years ago he become the first Hispanic mayor of one of the nation's top 10 cities. In Houston, police prevented an outbreak of violence between an angry crowd and some 60 Ku Klux Klansmen, who were marching to protest city policies.
