Conservatives gain ground from election in Finland

Finland's conservatives appeared to be the major winners in the country's two-day elections. The moderate-conservative National Coalition Party has been shut out of government for the past 17 years, because of fears that their inclusion would upset the Soviet Union. But with an expected 25 percent share of the vote, the party was in a strong position to be included in the ruling coalition, political leaders said.
