Steelworkers will vote on another tentative pact

March 1, 1983

Negotiators for the United Steelworkers of America and seven steel companies seeking concessions from the union have reached a tentative agreement, union sources said. The union's executive board - which approved a package including wage cuts last year, only to have it rejected by the union's local presidents - will submit an agreement again, the sources said. Chief union negotiator Joseph Odorcich said the package was better than the previous one.
