The House Judiciary Committee approved Tuesday a bill authorizing the president to appoint 227 life-term bankruptcy judges. The measure is aimed at overcoming defects in the bankruptcy-court system, which the Supreme Court ruled unconstitutional in June. Bankruptcy judges currently hold 14-year terms.
