Early Mozart symphony is authentic, experts say

February 7, 1983

Experts have determined that a symphony discovered in a cellar in Denmark 40 years ago is a genuine Mozart, written when the composer was barely 9 years old. The three-movement, 10-instrument, A-minor symphony was found among notes handed over to the Odense Symphony Orchestra by the local council after it cleared out rooms in the cellar of the county hall in 1943.
