ERA introduced again as Congress convenes

The Equal Rights Amendment was reintroduced as the first piece of legislation before the 98th Congress. To become a part of the Constitution, the amendment starts the ratification process all over again: to clear both House and Senate by a two-thirds majority and be ratified by at least 38 states. It was reintroduced by the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Peter W. Rodino Jr. (D) of New Jersey, and 221 cosponsors.

Also reintroduced was a nuclear freeze resolution signed by a bipartisan group of 152 House members.
