Couldn't those gene-splicers be a little more selective? Now, in what is recklessly called an advance in genetic engineering, they have put rat genes in mouse eggs and produced mice almost twice as big as before. Oh, sure, it's the useful spinoffs people look ahead to. But somehow at the moment we'd rather hear of minirats - or disappearing mosquitoes? - than jumbo mice.
