Dissident will be allowed to leave S. Korea for US

South Korea's leading dissident, Kim Dae Jung, exchanged a prison cell for a hospital room Thursday in preparation for flying to the United States for medical treatment, a senior government official said.

The official said Mr. Kim, a former presidential candidate, could depart next week if the Justice Ministry completed suspending his 20-year jail sentence for sedition.
