Cultural ties with US curtailed by Warsaw

December 15, 1982

The Polish Government said Tuesday it was cutting back on cultural and scientific links with the United States in response to what it called US attacks on Polish interests and sovereign rights.

A government statement carried by the Polish news agency PAP also said no visas would be granted to representatives or employees of the US Information Agency and all visa applications by Americans would be especially scrutinized. The statement condemned the fact that ''the US special services repeatedly abuse scientific and cultural cooperation for the purpose of penetration and subversion.''
