December 14, 1982

Two gun-toting bandits wearing ski masks broke into a building housing an armored-car service here, overpowered a guard, and stole $8 million in the nation's largest-ever cash robbery, police said Monday.

A police spokesman said the robbers apparently gained entry to Sentry Armored Car Courier through the roof of the building around 11:15 p.m. Sunday. The FBI has joined an investigation.
