Montrealers can be sure of a white Christmas because the city's snowfall is at its heaviest during the holiday season. Montreal's Botanical Garden is the world's third largest and at Christmas time it strives to outdo its rivals in London and Berlin. The nine exhibition greenhouses remain open all winter, but in December the main hothouse is the top attraction. It bursts with red, white, and pink poinsettias in honor of the holiday. The displays are banked around a creche.

This exhibition is at 4101 Sherbrooke St. West, and is open from Dec. 20 to Jan. 5 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
