Reagan authorizes aid for Hawaii hurricane victims

President Reagan declared Hawaii a disaster area because of damage caused by Hurricane Iwa and authorized federal aid to help the victims.

Federal aid includes temporary housing, the repair of destroyed and damaged public facilities, financial grants to families, and loans to businessmen from the Small Business Administration. State officials have estimated damage caused by Iwa on the islands of Oahu and Kauai at $200 million.
