Backwash

November 16, 1982

In love, in life, transcending time and space, there are buried dreams refusing to stay buried, memories so unyielding, they outrun, displace the transient interval where they began. Sometimes the backwash is stronger than the flow, the shadow often longer than the man like the Pharaoh Iknaton when he ruthlessly destroyed his father's gods, unaware that the dead do not stay dead - that his father's values lightly shed, were waiting for him just ahead.
