Italy starts search for new prime minister

November 15, 1982

Italian President Sandro Pertini begins talks today (Nov. 15) to find a new prime minister. Mr. Pertini will follow the traditional process of consulations with each major party to find a candidate acceptable to all the coalition members. If he fails, he must dissolve Parliament and call early elections.

Prime Minister Giovanni Spadolini resigned Friday for the second time in three days.
