De Lorean arraigned on cocaine charges

November 9, 1982

Automaker John De Lorean was arraigned Monday on federal charges he attempted to save his failing sports car company with a $24 million cocaine deal.

After Mr. De Lorean and his two co-defendants enter their pleas to a federal indictment, the case will be assigned to a judge and a trial date will be set. Mr. De Lorean's legal troubles appeared to be multiplying, as an automotive publication reported the IRS suspects him of possible tax fraud.
