Children's television has gained a big boost from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

According to Monitor TV critic Arthur Unger, $6 million over two years - the largest grant ever committed by the CPB - has been awarded to five public television stations which have joined forces to form a Children's and Family Consortium to produce dramas for viewers between the ages of 7 and 12 and their parents.
