Leftist guerrillas disrupt Protestant office in Ulster

October 20, 1982

Leftist guerrillas trying to disrupt elections for a local assembly in Ulster set off a bomb Tuesday at a Protestant party headquarters a day before the vote. Party leaders were evacuated and no one was injured.

The Irish National Liberation Army, a Marxist splinter group of the Irish Republican Army, claimed responsibility for the explosion, as well as for two attacks Monday, in which a Protestant schoolmaster was shot and wounded and an attempt was made on the life of a Protestant candidate.
