San Francisco mayor raps action killing handgun ban

October 15, 1982

Mayor Dianne Feinstein is disappointed that an appeals court struck down the city's tough anti-handgun law, but she says her community's fight against handguns isn't over yet.

The California Court of Appeal ordered San Francisco to refrain from enforcing the ordinance, regarded as the most far-reaching handgun ban yet enacted by a major US city.

Mrs. Feinstein said she would check with the city attorney's office before deciding whether to appeal.
