NFL players union agrees to try federal mediation

October 12, 1982

The National Football League Players Association agreed to seek the assistance of federal mediator Kay McMurray in efforts to end the 20-day strike.

In the first meeting in eight days, players' union representatives met in secret with owners' chief negotiator Jack Donlan in a hotel in Rye, N.Y. No efforts were made to resolve issues that separate the union and the Management Council, Donlan said.
