October 8, 1982

Czechoslovakia, East Germany, and Bulgaria have promised economic aid for Nicaragua's ailing economy, hard hit by low prices for its exports and natural disasters that hurt its agriculture.

Czechoslovak Federal Assembly President Alois Indra, during a visit here, said his country would open a line of credit to Nicaragua but gave no details. Government officials here said a formal agreement would be signed by the weekend.
