US reportedly to sell fighter jets to Jordan

September 20, 1982

The Reagan administration has nearly completed a proposal to sell advanced missiles and fighter planes to Jordan, the New York Times reported.

The newspaper quoted administration officials as saying the arms package would probably include the mobile Hawk antiaircraft missiles Jordan's King Hussein has been seeking. Northrop F-5G Tigershark fighter planes would also be included in the package, and possibly F-16 fighters, the report said.
