Louisiana congressman wins bid for reelection

September 13, 1982

Louisianans braved a tropical storm Saturday to vote in primary elections involving six House seats. Rep. Gillis Long (D) won his bid for a sixth term, turning back a stiff challenge from conservative state Sen. Ned Randolph.

Seven other incumbents - two without any opposition - also won reelection. Messrs. Long and Randolph provided the only substantial contest of the primary.
