August 18, 1982

Salvador Jorge Blanco, who was formally sworn in as the Dominican Republic's elected president for four years, named a 15-member Cabinet Tuesday.

Mr. Jorge Blanco spoke of the economic problems of this sugar-producing country. Taxes will be raised. Imports of many farm products will be halted. He also said he will not seek reelection, proposing a constitutional amendment barring presidents from serving more than one term.
