Rain dance rained out

August 11, 1982

The Comfort, Texas, Indian rain dancers, who aren't even real Indians, came to town in their rain-dancing duds to bring an end to a South Texas drought. They were rained out.

About a third of an inch fell in the city the day rain dance was scheduled. ''It's hard to have a rain dance when it's raining,'' said Lee Randall, station manager of radio station KTSA, which had offered to award a half-ton buffalo to anyone who could make it rain 1 inch in San Antonio in a 48-hour period. ''We're giving our listeners a rain check,'' he said.
