Korean loan scandel brings prison terms

Sentences were handed down Monday to people involved in a loan scandal here that rocked the economy and forced President Chun Doo Hwan to overhaul his Cabinet twice.

Former Gen. Lee Kyu Kwang, uncle of the President's wife, was found guilty of accepting bribes, sentenced to four years in prison, and fined $135,000. Lee Chol Hi, former deputy director of the Korean Central Intelligence Agency, and his wife, Chang Yong Ja, were each sentenced to 15 years in prison.
