Ex-Reagan aide, in shift, to push tax hike on Hill

Lyn Nofziger, a former aide to President Reagan, agreed to lead the administration's battle for congressional approval of the $98.9 billion tax increase bill he had earlier opposed, the White House announced Monday.

Last week Mr. Nofziger had joined other conservative Republicans in signing a statement opposing the tax increase, which Mr. Reagan says is needed to help reduce record deficits projected at over $100 billion.
