November vote will reject Reaganomics, Young says

August 6, 1982

Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young told National Urban League delegates that November's elections will bring a rejection of the Reagan administration and a new social and political era.

Mr. Young, who attacked the President's call for record defense spending and accompanying cuts in social services, said an immediate nuclear freeze could save $90 billion in just the next five years. He likened the current political climate to the adversity civil rights groups faced in the early 1960s and during President Nixon's second term.
