2 new Donovan charges under FBI investigation

August 3, 1982

Special prosecutor Leon Silverman is investigating at least two new allegations against Labor Secretary Raymond Donovan, law enforcement officials say.

Mr. Silverman released a lengthy report June 28 that concluded there was insufficent evidence to sustain previous charges that Mr. Donovan had close ties with organized crime. The new allegations are being investigated by the FBI. The officials declined to discuss them but said they were similar in nature to charges previously made against Donovan by FBI informants.
