Japan's car exports sag again

Japan's motor vehicle exports dropped for the second consecutive six-month period in the first half of 1982, marking the first continuous 12-month decrease on record, industry figures showed Wednesday.

The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association blamed voluntary reductions in exports by Japanese automakers and the continuing worldwide recession, which has dampened demand.

It said the nation's 11 automakers exported 2,891,701 cars, trucks, and buses in the January-June period, down 9.5 percent from the second half of 1981.
