Reagan signs bill to fund agencies until fiscal '83

July 20, 1982

President Reagan signed a $5.4 billion supplemental appropriations bill needed to keep some 12,000 federal employees on the job and to pay for a range of federal programs through the end of the fiscal year.

Larry Speakes, deputy press secretary, said the bill passed last week by Congress ''saved us close to $4 billion'' over two earlier versions vetoed by the President.
