At its recent Boston convention the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People reasonably complained about discrimination against black American soldiers in European public places. To be sure, the US troops, black and white, are there as part of the allies' common cause, not purely as a favor. And everyone knows that discrimination has not been eliminated in the US itself. But such circumstances are no excuse for Europeans to bite the hand that defends them.
