In Vietnam council shift, Xuan Thuy loses two jobs

June 30, 1982

Vietnam announced a major shuffle of its powerful Council of State, including the dismissal of Xuan Thuy from the posts of vice-chairman and general secretary.

The National Assembly disclosed the results of elections to the Council of State after the assembly's six-day meeting in Hanoi. Mr. Thuy, for many years the country's top representative at international gatherings, was the minister of state heading North Vietnam's negotiating team during the 1968-73 Paris peace negotiations with the United States.
