Presbyterian unit to take armsmakers from portfolio

June 30, 1982

The United Presbyterian Church voted to pull its investment money out of the 10 leading producers of military weapons. The delegates to the church's General Assembly also voiced opposition to President Reagan's prayer amendment and to legislative bodies that order ''creation science'' to be taught in public schools.

Also Tuesday, delegates of the northern branch of the church, divided from the Southern branch since the Civil War, voted to reunite the church. The Southern branch had voted yes on the merger two weeks ago.
