PLO fails to get unified Arab sanctions against US

June 28, 1982

Arab foreign ministers failed to reach a common stand on the Lebanon crisis when they met Sunday to discuss Israel's three-week-old invasion.

Only eight foreign ministers of the 22-member Arab League Council participated in the special meeting, held at the request of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The PLO had appealed to the Arab foreign ministers to break relations with the US, to impose an oil boycott, and to withdraw Arab money from American banks.
