Ban on Soviet pipeline hurts US, too, Percy says

Complaints about the US ban on sale of equipment to the Soviet Union for a natural gas pipeline are not coming in just from Japan and the EC.

Charles H. Percy, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said Thursday the ban means tens of thousands of American jobs will be lost to Japan. The Republican senator said technology for the projected 3,600-mile line could be obtained from Japan.
