Soviet athletes revisit Peking after 17-year lull

The first Soviet sports delegation to visit China in nearly 17 years arrived in Peking in a significant round of sports diplomacy between the two rival communist giants.

Foreign analysts say Soviet participation in the event is another sign Peking and Moscow are seeking ways to put aside bitter ideological disputes and reestablish businesslike contacts, even though relations remain far more tentative than they were in the 1950s.
